The International Reading Association has the perfect website for teachers looking to find resources to expand their reading and language arts instruction: Engage. Some of the best features of the site include free teacher-created downloadable lesson plans and reproducibles and book discussion groups with other teachers. My personal favorite is the monthly interviews with authors of award-winning children's and young adult books. This month, it's Michael Buckley, author of The Sisters Grimm; coming up are interviews with Melina Marchetta and Jay Asher. Teachers can also create a profile on the site, then connect with other reading teachers. It's really a great tool for 21st-century classrooms!
