With Earth Day approaching this coming Sunday (April 22), now is the perfect time to infuse environmental awareness activities into your lessons! Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders, and they will eventually be tasked with the pressing environmental issues we are facing. The following websites provide resources for teachers to use in the classroom to inform and engage students:
- On this Earth Day Activities page, teachers share what they have done in the classroom in the past to address Earth Day.
- This page describes 5 ways you and your students can make the classroom a more sustainable environment.
- This link provides relevant activities broken up by general age category and by subject.
These are just a few of many sites we found with great resources for you to use with your students. And remember, after Earth Day is over there is no need to stop presenting these issues in class. Discussing topics surrounding our environment is a great way to infuse a young generation of learners with problem-solving and leadership skills that will help them in their future lives.
